Private Dermatology
What do Dermatologists do?
Dermatologists are medical doctors who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin lesions and rashes. They see and investigate patients with a range of complaints including itch, unexplained unpleasant sensations and skin changes. Common skin disorders include acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and urticaria. Skin growths (lesions) are also usually best assessed by a dermatologist who has an interest in skin cancer diagnosis and dermoscopy
What services do they offer?
A range of consultation and investigation options can be offered depending on the individual circumstances and the clinical need.
New Patient Consultation
This is an introductory 30 minute consultation to determine the cause of your symptoms. As part of this consultation the specialist will ask questions about your symptoms, examine you and suggest if any tests may be considered.
These tests may include blood tests, which can be taken immediately; other tests such as skin biopsy / removal of a lesion and patch testing to look for contact allergy that can be arranged quickly and conveniently.
After the consultation a letter summarising the consultation and any recommendations for investigations is sent by e-mail or post to you and with your permission also copied to your GP.
Patch Testing
We offer True Test patch testing to help identify triggers for skin disease.
