Jai Manick (Jaiganesh Manickavasagam) is a consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and honorary senior teacher at Dundee Medical School. Within the ENT department, he is the lead head, neck and thyroid surgeon with clinical interests in laser surgery and thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He is playing a key role for North of Scotland head and neck cancer network.
Mr Manick’s NHS and private ENT clinical practice is devoted to general ENT, benign and malignant diseases of the head and neck, including the mouth, throat, voice box, neck, salivary glands, thyroid gland, rhinology (nose)and otology (ear). He is one of a few surgeons in the United Kingdom with expertise in transoral robotic surgery and Laser Microsurgery for head and neck cancers.
Mr Manick has completed specialist training in ENT in south Yorkshire and further fellowship in head and neck cancer and robotic surgery at Newcastle.
He is also the founding organiser of Dundee FRCS ENT course (www.frcsentvivacourse.co.uk),co-organiser of advanced ENT laser course (www.lasercoursedundee.co.uk) and is a organising chair for international head and neck conference (www.headandneckconference.co.uk) which is a novel interactive teaching platform for otolaryngology. Mr Manick is the Joint Royal college of surgeons Edinburgh and Malaysian FRCS course co convenor.
He is very keen on innovation and published many scientific articles and designed a few new surgical techniques and devices. He had delivered many national and international keynote lectures.
He is the principle Investigator for the many research studies related to Ear nose and throat.His research portfolio is primarily comprised of projects concerning the head and neck, rhinology and the skull base.
He is affiliated with ENTUK, Royal college of surgeons Edinburgh, Royal society of medicine and British society of endocrinologists.
