In 2010, I graduated from the University of Glasgow in an MBChB. I commenced post graduate training in Glasgow before commencing specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the South-East of England. Originally from Dundee, I returned home to complete my specialist training and then was appointed to my substantive post with NHS Tayside. I have 10 years of experience within Obstetrics and Gynaecology and have developed specialist interests in urogynaecology, acute gynaecology and minimal access surgery. I now lead the acute gynaecology service in NHS Tayside. As part of my NHS work, I also provide emergency obstetric care and maintain skills and knowledge in this area.
In 2017, I became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and am now a member of the exam committee, setting the standards to achieve membership. Furthermore, I am involved in the undergraduate curriculum as the Year 4 MBChB speciality lead for obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Dundee.
As a member of the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG) and the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), I am able to offer comprehensive counselling regarding surgery for vaginal prolapse and incontinence, ovarian cysts, heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroids, providing onward referral when required.
I am trained in transvaginal ultrasound scanning and can therefore provide this service in clinic to diagnose ovarian cysts, endometrial abnormalities and uterine fibroids. In addition, I offer endometrial biopsies to investigate menstrual disorders as well as providing management, such as the hormonal coil, when requested. I am able to offer insertion of vaginal pessaries for treatment for vaginal prolapse.
I endeavour to offer my patients an individualised, patient centered approach, providing a one-stop service where possible.
